If have not received a strange e-mail that says
"Hi! How are you?
I send you this file in order to have your advice
See you later."
you will. Its a very active worm/virus, I am getting
one send to me at a rate of 6 an hour. It is better
explained by Fred Langa at http://www.langa.com/flash.htm
Its very active today and very destructive.

* e-Mail Apps for the Power User___________________________
I've been trying to find that perfect e-mail app for what
seems like years now. Netscape and Outlook Express isn't
powerful enough for me, Outlook was overkill. After an
extensive search I settled on Calypso, which allowed me
to use templates, pre-recorded messages, multiple sig's,
auto responders, advanced filters, archiving to text, and
the 30 other features I needed. It worked fine for a while,
but I started using it on my LAN with shared data files and
it sometimes would "fail to respond". When that happens the
entire message base (in one big file) has to be re-indexed.
The larger the message base grew the more I experienced that
behavior. Combining that with fact that the Calypso developers
have decided to abandon Calypso, made me start "shopping" for
a new e-mail app. Hey, all I want is multiple address books,
a superior filter system, group mail, message templates,
multithread operation, auto backups, nested mailboxes, security,
spell- checking, the ability to share data files on my LAN,
and about 28 other powerful features. One friend tells me
that "you can't beat The Bat", and Pegasus Mail promises a
major re-write in the upcoming Version 4, but I have turned
by eyes to PocoMail. Seems feature rich and it is skinable as
well. It seems well supported by the author as well as its
users in the form of a message board and a mail list.
I'm going to give it an intensive work out the next 30 days
and see if I like it. If anyone has come across any e-mail
apps for power users let us know at http://theMezz.com/tech

* The Real Deal____________________________________________
At the risk of sounding reminding everyone of election
time I must endorse the newsletter offered by DealNews.com.
DealNews doesn't sell anything, they just point you to
cool gear and stuff that is not only on sale, but is
often combined with a great rebate. These money saving
tips are not limited to cyberstores, many are in your
local office Max, Staples, Circuit City and others, and
they are not limited to tech stuff either. I often see
cosmetics, perfume, books, airline tickets, CD's and more
of my favorite things. I/m not connected with DealNews
other than being a newsletter subscriber (free). With all
the junk floating around its nice to see something really
useful come along.

Hard Drives on your keychain - well sort of. At any rate these are
a must see for any prop head. By Christmas these little guys
will be affordable, better yet start your Christmas list now
with one....

This section written by Albert Renzulli
I found a program which forwards email from one account to
another email account. For example, if you have a Hotmail
account, this program will retrieve email from Hotmail and
send it to a POP3 account. You may be wondering why one would
want a service like this; if you are using Outlook Express,
one reason is because OE allows you to manipulate incoming
email in many ways. You can use rules in Outlook Express to
automatically sort incoming messages into different folders,
highlight certain messages in color, automatically reply to
or forward certain messages and block senders. These rules
can not be used on IMAP or HTTP accounts (Hotmail). I find
the email manipulation in OE more versatile and efficient
than similar services offered by Hotmail. Another reason for
using this program is if you have many email accounts, you
may want to redirect all or some of these messages into one
account, because it would be easier to manage. If anyone
knows of an email forwarding program more versatile than
this one, please let us know. This program is shareware
($12) and you can preview it for one month. If you are
interested look for a program called Mail Forward at this URL
http://www.sspi-software.com
(Albert recently said that this program does not work correctly
with netzero mail, and the author may be working on that)
* Palm Pilot Confusion____________________________________
Shopping for a palm pilot can be real confusing, and once
you get one the questions start!
Do you have a Palm Pilot? How do you like it? What one would
YOU buy. Got good sites for software? Let us know!

* Blogging at theMezz.com___________________________________
I've always enjoyed posting blurbs on website, and people
always sent me comments and tips about things I posted there.
With my recent addition of my blogger, you can now not
only read an article but you can post anything in response to
it. Kind of cool.
One of my favorite blogs is Leo from Tech TV.
My blog is at http://theMezz.com
Leo's blog http://www.leoville.com/gm/gm.shtml
* Help Me, Help Me______________________________________
We all need help with our software and our computers and I
get a ton of mail from people asking for it. I cannot
personally support all things I mentioned because I do not
always have the time or the answers. If you need help or
can help others please stop by the message board. Using the
board instead of e-mail not only lets other learn, but it
build a archive of questions and answers for future use.
