The Planner in Advanced Turning makes a distinction between rotating (live) and fixed tools when you define them.
The workplane determines the angle of index of if it is a face operation for live tools. There are bugs when coding live tooling working on the face of the sub-spindle, beware. While you can do simultaneous turning with 2 turrets, SmartCAM will not allow you to use a live tool from one turret on one spindle and use a turning tool from the second turret on the other spindle. Likewise SmartCAM will not allow concurrent use of live tooling with both turrets. ============================================= Fred Lauzus, CAM Programming Coordinator High Steel Structures, Incorporated mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.highsteel.com ============================================= -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, March 13, 2000 12:50 PM To: Smartcam Tech Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Advanced Turning-Live Tooling Just aquired a lathe with live tooling for main spindle and a sub spindle. Can anyone give me a jump on how Advanced Turning controls when to use the mill code gen and when to use the turn code gen. Does the tool type set it off or workplane, what. I have a generic code gen to start with for a Fanuc 15. A jump start would help me get rolling.
