There a neat macro under the options sub-menu that allows
you to set your views for a hozizontal machining center.
On non-macro jobs we draw the geometry in the x-y plane.
YOUR WCS icon is the center of the B rotary table. Draw
The centerline of the spindle on the X axis. Rotate the
geometry to get our angles and X,Zs (our part geometries
do not come from center of table). In our method the
geometry is rotated to the correct "B" angle (get the
angle from the transform-rotate dialog). The "X" in the
geometry is actually the Z in the machining end of it.
After all this is accomplished you can create your work
planes. We use rotation from WCS X0, Y0, Z0, B Angle.
Then place your geometry at the X,Y,Z you obtained
earlier. If you have the same geometry on different
planes reserve your workplanes. Copy the geometry from
workplane to workplane. It a good idea to reserve your
workplanes anyway just to avoid oops. You can hide
workplanes and still have all the tools displayed on
the workplane your using, Nice feature, also true picture
of what your cutting. Workplanes are truly worth
learning.
