William,

While the gear macro was originally written for the DOS version of Advanced
Wire EDM, the control panel was from v11.5. The size of the control panels
in versions 6 through 10 were fixed at 6 rows by 64 columns while the panel
size in v11 is adjustable between 2 to 5 rows by 80 columns. The panels I
sent you were for v11 and set to be 3 rows high by 80 columns wide. This is
probably the source of your problem. Try using the attached panel created
for pre v11 SmartCAM.

Frederick
Will this work with Advanced 3D Ver. 10.0
I tried it and I get an illegal error when opening the app.
Thanks
William

Attached are the files to support the gear creation macro included with
SmartCAM Advanced Wire EDM. This macro can be transplanted to the milling,
fabrication and turning products.

1. Unzip the attached file.

2. Copy the file "Gear.mcl" into the SmartCAM "Shared\Sysmcl\" folder.

3. Copy the file "Awuser.pcb" into the SmartCAM "Shared\" folder.

4 .Open your application ini file for your particular application
  (i.e. pmill.ini, amill.ini, ffm.ini, etc...).

5. In the application ini file, find the section labeled "[PcbPaths]"

6. In the PcbPaths section, find the label "usrelmt"

7. Edit the file name and path for usrelmt for "AWUSER.PCB".
   (i.e. usrelmt=C:\SM9\SHARED\AWUSER.PCB)

If SmartCAM is running, you will need to close and restart the application
before the change is active. The Gear function can be accessed through the
"Create--User Elmts--Gear" menu selections.

I've included the documentation for the gear macro from the Advanced Wire
EDM help in both Word 6 and plain text formats.

So would I! I have used TwinCAD; website http://www.twincad.com.
It has a macro "invgear" which you type into the command line. You are
then prompted for the details and it then draws the gear. It can then be
transferred to SmartCAM.
