SDRC Camand and SmartCAM and Year 2000 Compliance
SDRC recognized the issues with the year 2000 dates several years ago,
examined our software and made changes where necessary to avoid problems
with two (2) digit date codes. SDRC stores all dates in a full four digit
format when this information is used in algorithms which compare dates.
Therefore, dates are not an issue with the turn of the millennium. Because
of the recent flurry of publicity about the issue, we will continue to do
internal testing to verify that no potential problems exist in our software
due to the dates associated with the year 2000 and beyond.
SDRC performed extensive operational testing during 1997 and continues to
perform testing to verify that no problems exist in our Camand and
SmartCAM software. According to the results of these tests starting with
Camand 14.0 and SmartCAM 11.0, we believe that these versions of the
product and all subsequent releases will provide correct results and will
not abnormally terminate due to date data regardless of the century,
provided that the underlying operation system of the host machine properly
provides full date information to our products through its system calls.
SDRC's software product specifications describe how its software will
perform. As with any software manufacturer, SDRC will attempt to repair all
malfunctions that are encountered by those customers under the warranty
period or a valid maintenance contract. More specifically, SDRC's position
concerning the "Year 2000 Compliance", is that should our software
malfunction before, during and/or after the actual calendar year 2000 A.D.,
as a direct result of the use of a calendar year representation, and the
software is under a valid maintenance contract, SDRC will repair such
malfunction at no charge. It is our policy to warrant and maintain our
software products in such a way that SDRC will repair malfunctions, not to
warrant or guarantee that there will be no malfunctions. SDRC is committing
to repair such problems. SDRC, however, does not anticipate any problems
with the "Year 2000" issue affecting use of SDRC's products.
SDRC has also taken the appropriate measures to ensue that it's internal
systems are "Year 2000" ready as well. This process extends to all SDRC
offices world-wide. We have and will continue to test and monitor our
business systems (i.e. communication, accounting, finance, suppliers,
service providers etc.) for "Year 2000" readiness so that we can continue to
provide our products and services to you without interruption.
