The way I got around this is with a macro. Rather than going straignt to Code from the menu, the programmer runs a macro. The macro prompts the programmer for the part number etc. then places the comments at the top of the element database. The code generator reads the comments and passes them to the code file. I worked on this a long time ago and cannot explain how they work. Hopefully, if you are in the middle working with codegenerators and macros, they will make sense to you. If not I will try to recall my steps.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Operator input while coding ?
Does anyone know of a way to have Smartcam prompt you for input when it
creates code?
For example if someone forgets to put in a part description, can I make
Smartcam recognize that there is nothing in the part location area and
prompt the operator for input?
Thanks in advance
