Where I work we use both Mazatrol and ISO for our milling centres. For
simple drill, bore and ream programs with a smidgen of milling mixed in, the
operators do the programming at the control and really enjoy that portion of
their work. However, when it comes to more complex profiles which require
multiple roughing and finishing passes we use SmartCAM to generate the
necessary code.
At one point there was talk of getting an off-line programming system from
Greco for generating Mazak programs but the annual budget review quenched
that idea for now.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Mazatrol and CAM
What CAM software are people using for making programs for
their
Mazaks, especially machining centres? Is anyone using
SmartCAM for
this? Are you making Mazatrol programs or ISO?
