Ok, how about a process question, not so much a
smartcam question.
I have a silicon bronze casting, it has a cored
hole, approx 1.0 dia X 5.0 deep that I have to finish out to 1.250 dia. I
want to take a 1.0 dia indexable, extended, endmill and helix mill down the
cored hole to ensure centerline is where I want it, then pre-size it, then
finish bore it.
Any recommendations on axial length of the
helix? I currently have it set at a 1.20 dia helix with a .100 axial cut
per revolution. Using a 2 fluted indexable endmill, I realize this is only
moving a .100 radial value on the centerline, and am a little concerned about
healing out. I will be going 2.5 inches down from both ends to clean up,
prior to pre-sizing from one end.
Anybody done this type thing before? Any
suggestions for me?
Thanks gang
