I think I found a solution on the SMM.EXE error problem. The surface
model originated in a Pro-E file, and was IGES translated into Freeform
for coding. Late Tuesday I found four surfaces that, for whatever
reason, would not show a surface normal indicator but would render ok
and was recognized when generating toolpath. I was intrigued by the
lack of Normal indication and deleted the surfaces and made new
replacement surfaces. The problem went away. I checked the Element Data
info on the "unusual" surfaces and Freeform returned "Construction
Method = Imported ACIS Spline (NURBS) Surface". That seemed normal, in
conclusion all I can figure is that in the file translation some
information was attached to these surfaces that Freeform did not read
correctly. hmmmmmm
Thanks to all replies,
Michael
