I just finished building my own system for home and here are the conclusion
I've come to!
  It is pretty hard to save $$ doing it yourself, the big advantage is knowing
exactly what you have inside the box. With the slow sales of computer
systems over the holidays There are allot of good buys out there now on
systems and they may continue to drop for a little while yet!
If you decide to build your own here are a couple of sites I found helpful:
  To find the best price on all your parts goto: http://www.pricewatch.com/
  To get info on motherboards and such goto: http://www.tomshardware.com
Have fun!! Things are changing so fast every decision you make may be
obsolete by tomorrow :->
