It is true that the taper is in the tool, but you still need to program it with the taper (or increase in radius).
If you do not program it with taper, the tool will not generate circular geometry, thus the pipe threads will most likely not seal. The reason the taper is in the tool is you can generate a complete thread in one full revolution. -----Original Message----- From: Al Jones [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, March 01, 2001 5:39 AM To: mark glassford; SMARTCAM EMAIL GROUP Subject: Re: [mfg-smartcam] taper pipe threadmilling the taper is in the tool - just program a simple helix leading in and out with an arc. mark glassford wrote: > > ive got to threadmill a 1.250-11.5 tpi tapered pipe internal thread in our > haas mill.the threadmill insert is a multitooth and its tapered > already.would this be programmed as a straight thread and let the mill cut > the taper ?or do i have to get fancy(somehow)and program the taper into the > helix move. > thanks in advance > > mark > 79 cherokee chief > (above the law) > > _________________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com > > ====================================================================== > To find out more about this mailing list including how to unsubscribe, > send the message "info mfg-smartcam" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > ====================================================================== ====================================================================== To find out more about this mailing list including how to unsubscribe, send the message "info mfg-smartcam" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ====================================================================== ====================================================================== To find out more about this mailing list including how to unsubscribe, send the message "info mfg-smartcam" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ======================================================================
