While it is possible to generate code for a 4 axis feed move without using wrapped geometry, it is not a capability of SmartCAM within the Process Modeling environment.
I developed a CTK function several years ago that, when used with a modified code generator, mimicked 5 axis swarf cutting. It did this by creating numerous workplanes with their Z axis vectored between two 3D profiles. Each workplane would contain a line created with step that composed a segment of the 5 axis profile. The routine worked but had many complex issues such as tolerance, workplane management and avoiding inverse rotations. I'll look through my archives, see if can find my samples and post them to the group. ============================================= Fred Lauzus, CAM Programming Coordinator High Steel Structures, Incorporated mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.highsteel.com ============================================= -----Original Message----- From: Andy Beardmore [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, May 14, 2001 7:07 AM To: 'smartcam user group' Subject: [mfg-smartcam] 4 axis programming It is possible to create 4 axis moves in Free Form Machining without using wrapped geometry. > Andy Beardmore > CadCam Technician > SPS Aerostructures Ltd., UK > Machining Facility, Mansfield > Tel : +44 (0) 1159 880 500 ext.1586 > Fax : +44 (0) 1159 880 501 > E~Mail : [EMAIL PROTECTED] ====================================================================== To find out more about this mailing list including how to unsubscribe, send the message "info mfg-smartcam" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ====================================================================== ====================================================================== To find out more about this mailing list including how to unsubscribe, send the message "info mfg-smartcam" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ======================================================================
