Bill,
I worked for a boss, who was a self proclaimed Pattern
Engineer (no formal training or college), who wanted to use
Smartcam. I moved the PC into his office and after lunch I
asked him how it was going. He replied, "I clicked that
Create button and nothing happened, what is wrong with it?"
He finally decided that this programming stuff is just a
bunch of computer tricks and I just wouldn't tell him what
they were. He got run off later. Sadly, I worked for this
clown for 5 years.
After 18 years I left there and the guy that this Pattern
Engineer guy had hand picked for a replacement, decided that
he could buy patterns from a major supplier cheaper that we
could have made them in the shop (very wrong) but it worked
for him. To this day his boss has never found out that this
new Dept. Manager guy barely had a high school education and
can't even operate a cnc. I left there and went in business
for myself.
