I know I'm a little late on this subject ( I was away on vacation),
but I thought I would put in my 2-cents
We have 1 seat of Prod Milling and 1 seat of Adv. Prod. Milling that
we use to program 2 KOMO 3-axis machine centers, with Fanuc controls making
solid wood furniture. (I didn't see anyone else in the wood working industry
using Smartcam, I wonder what they may be using.)
I also have a seat of CIMBlock that we were going to replace
Smartcam with but never had training or time to figure out how to use it.
Now I guess it doesn't matter. Still looking for something as good and as
flexible.
We also use Multi-DNC to transmit programs back and forth to the
Komo's.
I like Multi-DNC because we don't need a p.c. on the production floor. Our
operators key the program they need into the control and send it into the
office computer which then finds the program and sends it back to the
control. Nobody else has to do a thing.
I also think this is a great forum where there's a lot of knowledge
shared, and not a lot of crap like other forums. I believe that if we
Americans are going to stay competitive in this "Global Economy" we need to
share as much knowledge as we can. Whether we are working in wood, metal, or
whatever.
O.K. I'll get off the soap box now
Have a nice day everyone.
