This has been talked about several times but I will put in my two cents.  We use NoteTab Light, it is not a CNC editor but you can create clips that will do anything you want including strip block numbers.  The low end editor is freeware and that's what we use.  If you try this software don't load the trial addins.  Let me know and I will send you the clip for stripping block numbers.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Re: CNC Editor decisions

This may be a tired thread... but I need to come up with a solution, with help from the list.

Due to recent format changes we are now using file names longer than 8 charactors.   EditPlus (SmartCAM) doesn't support this... ( unless somebody can set me straight.)

We have been using Predator (Editor) on a trial basis but don't want to buy 6 seats at their price.  Predator is a 'top of the line' editor, but we don't need all the goodies..... requirements for most of our seats will be basic editing and we must be able to strip sequence numbers.  We don't need built in communications as we are running Predator's latest stuff, which has networked all of our machines, with remote upload/download.

Here is what I am looking for:

1)      A fix for EditPlus, so that it will handle more than 8 charactor filenames.

2)      A recommendation on a good CNC editor, with sequence number stripping, affordable for 6 or more seats, or a site license.  Math functions would be sweet, but not required...

I have downloaded and tested several CNC editors but haven't found one that is suitable.

Thanks in advance for any help...
