Don,

Sometimes installing SmartCAM while logged on to network with W2K operating system can cause this.  It seems to have something to do with the W2K security. When installing SmartCAM logged onto a network the "Home Directory" and/or ".ini" files can go some unusual places. If you don't have read and write access to these default files or directories you are trying to save to, SmartCAM will lock up.

First check the default files and directories SmartCAM is going to and see that the properties are not set to read only.
Make sure your W2K security access and profile is set for access with read and write permission.

Easiest surest way to fix the problem is to;

Back up your SmartCAM files.
Make sure you have your Key Code written down.
Remove SmartCAM from your system.
Logoff the Network
Reinstall SmartCAM.
Move/Copy the SmartCAM backed up files you need.
      Check the properties of these files and make sure they don't copy or move over as "Read only"
      Just highlight them, right mouse click, click properties and make sure read only is not checked.
      If you were saving files to the network some of these files .jof as an example may still reference the network location as default.
