Andy,
I do 3-4-5 axis work using UG. In their terminolgy "variable machining"
USUSALLY means variable axis machining. Read 4-5 axis. I have this module in a
"license bundle", the individual components of which can not be disabled, but
I doubt you can do multiaxis work without the multiaxis functions license. If
you only need positioning, and not simultaneous 4 axis motion, You may have a
shot.
Good luck,
Pete
P.S. UG11245 includes the Fixed axis surface milling, surface milling and
variable axis surface milling. From the looks of it you will need it for 3
axis surfaceing as well as for 4 and 5. I have a summary of features per
bundle list, email me if you need it.

Hi
group

at this moment our company islooking at upgrading from Smartcam to
UniGraphics. If anybody could answer me afew of questions it would be
greatly appreciated. I know some of you guys have already looked at or
acquired
UG.

1.I need to know whatcapabilities
the VARIABLE MACHINING MODULE (UG11245)
has?

2.Is this module required for 3 axis
surface scanning and 3, 4, and 5 axis positional
work?

3.I know
UniGraphicsCan do everything That
Smartcam can do, but can it do thisWITHOUT this
module?

Thanks in
Advance
