I used this a bunch when I was the apps guy @PMI where we sold komo's. It is great software for regular joe that knows nothing about much of anything. You need to know acad because it uses the cad dwg to create the tool paths. The nice thing is you just pick the cutting cycle and go.
Average joe can not edit the post, most of the files are huge auto lisp routines and finding the area to modify is hard. If you have komo's, a post exhists to create code that will require no mods. I never modified a file from router cim. Just run what it gives you and don't sweat the small stuff.
Not sure about changing feed along the path, I tried not to get too deep into it.
micro systems has a router of the same type as the last one I worked on, MachIII, ours had full C axis too. He is using smartcam and Visual mill to program his machines.

Subject: [mfg-smartcam] Anyone using Router-Cim software?
Date: Thu, 6 Mar 2003 04:57:48 -0800 (PST)

Does anybody use Router-CIM software ?I have seen the DEMO from Kenny B. at KOMO and I believe it will work for us. We have 2 KOMO routers that we do mainly 2 1/2 axes work, cutting solid wood. I would like some positives and negatives about this software, if anyone has any experience with it. Can the average person create \ edit the posts? Is there a way to change feed speeds along a path? I know about the grain direction option that is built into the software, but what if I want to change feeds along the path that is running with the grain? Do they have any way for user's to bounce ideas off of each other, like this great forum? or user groups ? How is the NURBS upgrade for 3 axes work? If we purchase this software, the Autocad upgrades must be purchased through KOMO. Should that be a concern? TIABear
