I read a comment about drawing the parts in smart cam. Importing models really isn't a big thing.
Here's what I have.
I have smart cam set up to draw everything we make using macros. All I do is enter the numeric information, tell it what machine it's for and I may have to add or modify some minor tool paths. All in all it takes me anywhere from 5 - 30 minutes on average to put out a program for a particular machine. Some take longer because they are a little more complex. The average overall time to create a model and make code for our most popular parts is about 8 minutes and that is from start to finish (out to the machine). Even the Esprit rep couldn't believe how fast code was generated.
I can't really see any of the new packages matching the speed or ease of SmartCam. But I realize that times do change and SmartCam, eventually will no longer work with upcoming operating systems.
I saved everyone's emails and will share them with my supervisor.
