I truly hope that the Fab product is continued.  I often use Adv Fab for Sheet metal layout,  I haven't found any other software that will give me a Flat pattern of a "NON-Standard" parts as quickly and easily as Adv Fab.  This capability alone was why we purchased SC, and I'm still generating code with it today.  I've looked at the other Fab products, but NONE of them can give me a Flat Pattern like SC can.

My 2 cents

Subject: RE: [mfg-smartcam] Here is what we have

Our company has been using SmartCAM since v4.0, so I'll put my hat into the ring

Currently on our server there are:

15,769 SH2 Shape files created since 1990
134,389 PM4 Process Model files created since 1998

That's a total of 150,158 SmartCAM Shape and Process Model files created since 1990

This is not counting all the SH2 Shape files created between 1987 and 1990 that have since been archived to CD ROM.
We migrated directly from v4.5 to v10, so we have no production SH3 files other than the few (less than 50) created with tape to shape.

Gregg,

Most of these files were created using the fabrication module/application. The now defunct Building Blocks had some kind of agreement with EDS for the licensing and support of SmartCAM Fabrication. That is why at the end SDRC could severely cut the price of ATURN, FFM and give AWEDM away free to milling users, but did not drop the price of AFAB. What will become of the fabrication module since Gary Whitlock of Whitlock Engineering has taken ownership of Building Blocks CIMBLOCK product?

I know Milling is first in line for an update with Turning next, but can MRS eventually support the full breath of all former SmartCAM products? I know I'm not the only Fab user out there.
