[mfg-smartcam] Surface Scan

Hi, All First let say how great it was to see SmartCam is going to live on.   I have an aircraft part approx. 4" x 6" aluminum 1/2" thick that needs to be reproduced. If any of you have ever worked on aircraft parts you know there's not a flat spot on them. My question is, Is there a way to scan the surface of the part (maybe with a Laser) and create a 3D surface model for SmartCam? any help would be great. Thanks William Ray Ray Machine Inc.
