Well, if I use getservbyname(), I normally substitute the "default" 
port for a service, in case the user has munged his TCP/IP config, 
or is using a semi-serious TCP/IP stack. I think mFTP should do 
the same <hint, hint :->

However, the services database is a static file which contains IANA 
assigned numbers -- I don�t see why your ISP would be generating 
it dynamically, and giving someone the suggestion to "leave it 
empty" is utterly, majorly and totally braindead.
