Marc-search (I've used it) has the disadvantage of running a Perl
regex across the files for every search. WebGlimpse (which I now use)
conversely indexes the pages in advance and search queries merely
access the index and then cross check the source files for matches.

ie Marc-search can hammer your system or take a long time when
searching large numbers of files. WebGlimpse is much faster and
lighter.
