syntax for the expiredate

Dear list users,

I am new in this list group. I want to run the expiredate command. I 
did run the command as given in the document but it did not 
execute. The command I have given is as follows:

mhonarc -oudir /promed/ -add -expiredate 1 Dec 1999 /root/list/*.*

The result shows that it could not parse the expiredate.

Kindly suggest me how to run expiredate command.
