This seems to be one of those things to which there are as many opinions as
there are options. AWStats, Webalizer, and Analog are the three most popular
answers and each has its ups and downs. Fortunately, they're all easy to
install and try out, although the analog config can be a time investment.

Myself, Webalizer is good for longer-term trend analysis. Its pretty and easy
for a customer to understand.
AWStats is pretty, has tons of info, and is extensible (you can use it for
maillogs if you want to). I used it many many versions ago, and it was
expensive (from a processor POV).
My preference is for Analog. Its retro, not pretty. It gives tons and tons of
info (the sample reports have only a fraction of the reports enabled), and its
not too processor intensive. The only thing is that it won't automatically
generate reports for different time intervals. If the glitz has you down,
there's an addon called Report Magic (I've never used it).
