I'll take a block.
I'll explain watch, wc, true, false, yes, splitvt, uniq, and sort. Those are
simple cli commands suitable for a more gui-orientated audience. :)
(Unless y'all think thats more basic then is warranted here)

If someone out there is looking for some simple tools to present on, the
following may be a good idea:

netcat
fmt
logger
script
strace
ldd
