One thing worth considering, the official Ubuntu upgrade notes admonish against "jumping" versions, i.e. upgrading from Dapper to Gutsy is strongly discouraged.
I expect a direct upgrade will be available from Dapper to Hardy (the current and planned LTS releases) but to get to Gutsy you need to go through Edgy and Feisty.
