Thanks, both are available in Ubuntu repositories, unfortunately I found
no joy there; further research taught me that 16-bit I/O is hardcoded
into libata; see the first item at http://linux-ata.org/faq.html

As I understand it, I've got udma6, NCQ, etc... there's nothing else I
should be tweaking.
