Unfortunately the slashdot store seems to have nuked the main page for
this (http://www.oft.state.ny.us/oftnews/erecords-study.htm) but it is

The short: NY is deciding on a standard for document archival in the
state.  They are doing a study now with a Request for Public Comment
until Dec 27th.

This means there is a chance, especially if there is a lot of public
comment, that New York would standardized on the Open Document format.
Wouldn't that be great for all us Linux Users. :)
