MHV-Live is really old, and I stopped working on it a few years ago since
there was no point with all the other "Live-CD's" out there.
I would try Puppy Linux Live ( http://www.puppylinux.org ) , DSL (
http://damnsmalllinux.org/ ) check out http://www.livecdlist.com/ for the
full list.
I use the System Reacue CD ( http://sysresccd.org/ ) since it's small
(168mb) and runs on all systems I've come across, but it's for rescuing
systems.

I would d/l and see how xubuntu runs ( http://www.xubuntu.org/ ) if it runs
well I would consider getting a drive just for it and running it off that
drive.
By using xubuntu you would be using current Ubuntu code and features in
which case most people on the list will be able to assist ( and it fits with
all of our talks )
Otherwise I would go with Puppy Linux since it is designed for older
Hardware and should give the best support for older systems and is also a
LiveCD.

Hope that helps
