I'd sort of expect that with MHV Live, given it's age. A new Gutsy CD
would be much better than that.

Applications are actually seperated very cleanly from base OS libraries
in a Linux environment. Extra install applications do nothing other
than take up disk space, they *don't* negatively impact performance or
stability of the system.

I've never done the USB path, so I'll have to leave that for others.
