Yup, trading music online is now just as bad as selling crack cocaine,
or robbing a bank ( thanks to the RIAA )
The current body of laws and current court cases back this up. If you
TRADE music ONLINE your committing a crime, period end of discussion.
The RIAA has hired 5+ firms to seek out P2P traders and extort hundreds
if not thousands of dollars. It's being done now, someone you know may
have gotten the extortion letter.

This got me thinking, see next point

I pondered this for some time, and you hit a point that I completely missed!
That's the whole point of using last.fm ( or other net radio ), to
explore and find new music and artists.
Your not ripping an album ( thus cheating the musician ), but making the
net radio experience portable.
I'm sure the musicians would not mind one song as it will probably lead
to an album purchase.

The other point is current FM radio "sucks", networks like clear
channel, destroy artists and promote corporate stooge radio. Net Radio
offers a alternative, allowing independents a chance, also you have a
better chance at hearing new artists that you like, and are deserving of
your support.

So:
1) go ahead and make internet radio portable!
2) support the musicians you like, find new ones to support!
3) post some more "alternatives" to last.fm, sites that deliver better
listing value
