source code in package based distributions, perhaps it's time to
rethink your distro ( http://www.gentoo.org ).

Anyhow, you could also check out OpenJDK/IcedTea (
https://openjdk.dev.java.net ) which would let you run native 64-bit
Java in your 64-bit Firefox.

By the way, is anyone else becoming more and more disenfranchised with
Firefox? The performance on Linux is really sucking out big time. For
example, Google 'javascript speed test' and pit every installed
browser you have. Firefox is just about dead last on my machine --
HELL, it even loses by about 20% (!!) to FF3 in WinXP in KVM on the
same machine. That's pretty pathetic. :-/
