When I run Gkrellm under Ubuntu 8.04, I can't get it to display my HDD (sdb) temperature. (sdb temperature displays correctly with the Gnome sensors applet). Gkrellm displays sdb activity but the area where the temperature display should appear is blank.
Gkrellm under Ubuntu is supposed to pick up HDD temp when hddtemp is run as a daemon. I have hddtemp configured (/etc/default/hddtemp) to run as a daemon, to monitor sdb, to use interface 127.0.0.1, and to listen on port 7634. (gkrellm uses port 7634). I believe the following test shows that hddtemp is configured correctly: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ nc localhost 7634 ; echo |/dev/sdb|ST3100011A|35|C| When I run Gkrellm under Fedora 9 on the same multiboot PC, sdb temperature displays correctly. (Gkrellm under Fedora uses a plugin: gkrellm-hddtemp for hdd temperature. Apparently,Gkrellm under Ubuntu does not use a plugin for hdd temperature.) _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Sep 3 - Porkchop - The Areas of My Expertise Oct 1 - Ubikeys Oct 4 - Linux Fest Nov 5 - Releasing Open Source Software Dec 3 - TBD
