Last night I spent some time enabling openid on mhvlug.org. This in theory goes both ways. (Details on the plugin here: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:OpenID)
You can now log into the wiki with an openid. I've openned it up to all
openid providers. Some seem to work, and some don't, and I'm not sure
why. I got in with my creative commons id and wordpress last night,
O'Connor wasn't able to use his verisignlabs id. It would be great if
someone could try a yahoo id, as they are probably the biggest providers
at this point.
What is more interesting, is this should also let you reuse you
mhvlug.org credentials on other web sites that can accept openid. This
idea hit me as Joe started talking about his podcast application idea at
dinner, which is something that would be great to have (perhaps he'll
work on it at the web-a-thon... hint... hint). Wouldn't it be great if
people could piggy back on the top of the wiki's user system for mhvlug
related web apps?
The whole openid/oauth space would make a good future talk, if anyone
wanted to step up to it. I know I'd like to hear such a talk. :)

There is no silver bullet. Plus, werewolves make better neighbors
than zombies, and they tend to keep the vampire population down.
