I know, it's theoretically a problem in Wine, but it's something that needs a workaround on the Linux side.

I have a genealogy database created in Family Tree Maker (v7.0 in my case) which I would like to print out to PDF before exporting to PAF and then importing to GRAMPS. Mainly I would like to have the full printout in case data doesn't import correctly, so that I can validate it before editing the new database in GRAMPS.

The problem I have is that the printer selection dialogue does not work correctly. It won't actually let you *set* anything, so you have to rely upon whatever you have se as the default printer device in Linux (I just tried this in a trial version of FTM 2005, and it has the exact same bug). The additional problem here is that FTM/win prints every family group as a *eparate* print job, and it doesn't send correct header information to the print driver. This means it will create a PDF named "_sdtin_.pdf", and will continuously *overwrite* that file for each family group. If you want to get 250 family groups, it will overwrite the first 249 in sequence, and just leave the last one.

I figure there must be a way to set up a modified printer definition that would rename the PDF as soon as the file was closed from printing (or, conversely, renames an existing file if found at the beginning of the print job). using a timestamp for the file name would be adequate. I just have no idea where to start looking.
