Sean, or anyone else that has experience with ubuntu and wacoms, you did a
lightning on your bamboo and getting that to work with Gimp / Inkscape. I
followed this tutorial https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom and installed
xserver-xorg-input-wacom wacom-tools and created a default fdi file from the
example https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom.fdi So as of right now my
tablet (intuitos 3) is recognized when I plug it in, the brush and eraser
switch back and forth depending which end of the pen I use, the upper part
of the button on the pen acts like a right mouse click, the pressure works,
and the right scrolly thing on my touchpad works like a mouse scroll wheel.
My question is how do I get the other buttons and the left scrolly thing to
work? When I setup a bamboo on XP for my girlfriend the wacom driver had a
gui that let you assign a command or key combination, so for instance I had
it open firefox with one of the buttons by just browsing to the exe. Thats
seems like it would be pretty simple to do on ubuntu but I cannot find out
how. In gimp there is a key tab under extended devices but I don't know
what it does or how to make is work. I know that I can press a key on my
keyboard and the letter appears but when I press a wacom key nothing
happens. I tried installing keytouch to see if the keys were sending a code
but was unable to load the device with the keytouch editor. In the second
link I provided (the fdi file) it says you can "create custom files" using
this documentation
http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/howto/inputdev unfortunately I
cannot make much sense of it or at least I do not see how individual buttons
are called.

I know this is long but here is what I would like to accomplish if
possible. The two scroll things on the pad I would like one set to the
color wheel and the other the contrast. The other buttons I have not
decided on yet. Any suggestions?
