Sorry if I'm late to the party or repeating what's already been said before, but zazzle.com only needs 7800x 5200 pixels to make a 78" x 52" poster. The use of "dpi" (in this context of multiple possible output media) becomes annoyingly vague. http://zazzle.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/85 Another freeware tool I use all the time is povray. It is able to manipulate bitmaps, literally speaking, but not in all the was Photoshop can of course. I've never tried a 150 Mb one, of course, but I've seen it not blink at hopelessly complex structures. And it is the tool I'd use if I were wanting to create complex images (like a map or farm layout), with potentially the need at different times for outputs at different pixel counts. Interestingly, I came back to this thread because I thought it might have been a discussion about how it's being taken out of the as-shipped version of some distros. I use GIMP every day at work and do find its load-up times to be a bit slow. -- Greg M. Johnson http://pterandon.blogspot.com
