What are your requirements?

hmmm... just notice a little problem with what I was writing...
The max resolution for nvidia GTX cards is 2048x1536

Nvidia is not clear if their mobile quadro video cards support 2560x1600 but the desktop version does

I think you have to find which video cards will work and then find the linux compatible laptops.
IIRC some IBM and Dell laptops used to come with Quadro cards.

This system76 laptop may work for you

Here is the info for the card, but I don't quite understand it... Maybe you can call System76 and ask.

This is what I wrote before I checked the max resolution for the following nvidia cards. Its useless to you but might be useful to someone else... I like this laptop from system76.com it comes with GeForce GTX 285M which is the top Nvidia card for latops today... Probably the most powerful 15.6 inch laptop today.
with Ubuntu pre installed.

If you are on a budget and or have experience with hardware, you can get an Asus G60VX or G60JX from best buy and do upgrades later. They usually come with Asus express gate feature which runs on linux. I assume all asus laptops that comes with this feature support linux but double check with some research. forum.notebookreview.com is a good place for upgrade guides and linux setup.

The G60JX comes with a weaker video card but I think it still works for you. (no it does not do the resolution you require)

I own an Asus G51 which looks exactly like the G60 but with a 15.6 screen. I upgraded the CPU to p9700 2.8ghz added more memory and a second internal HD. It was very easy to upgrade for a laptop. Almost everything worked out of the box, only adjustment needed was the keyboard layout and the headphone jack. The fix was also very quick and easy, there is a guide on the notebookreview forum...

 my 3 complains.
* Laptop gets dirty looking real easy and requires frequent cleaning if you care... (its somewhat scratch resistant tho) * toy looking design on the lid which I covered with a big sticker, (I have plans for an Ubuntu sticker) * There was a problem with my batch, the GPU thermal pad was poorly applied which made the GPU heat up to 98c when playing heavy 3d games. the replacement laptop was a bit better. This won't be a problem if you don't play heavy 3d games.

I'm looking for a new laptop. It will need to be able to run at 2560x1600 via a port replicator. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
