Sean and I have been working for a couple of years on a side project of
getting people to switch to more open software.
Sean has done an awesome job of re-inventing the OpenCD, which is a
collection of free open source software that can be installed on a Windows
system. The idea is that if a person can move to mostly Open, then they are
less beholden to the OS maker and can move if necessary.

I have been cooking up a version of the OpenCD with all Apple OS/X Free Open
Source Software for the up coming event at the Woodstock museum event. In so
doing I have been gathering free books so that the owner of the disk would
have something to start with ( I always assume that a person does not have
great access to the internet and work from there )

During my development I came accross this artical
http://www.osnews.com/story/23645/How_to_Revitalize_Mature_Computers
Which I think could be expanded into a short (Open) book on how to take an
old PC and reuse it.
It would tie-in to the purpose of the CD since the older computer could run
Linux, the newer Apple or Windows PC then would use the programs off the CD.

Thus accomplishing three goals
1) Less landfill
2) Allowing more people access to PCs
3) Showcasing the usefulness of Linux, how fits in and plays well with
others

Please send me a personal email to japuzzo (at) gmail.com if interested.
Please post to this thread as to ideas for the book it you want to add to
the discussion.
