I would suggest you avoid the word "hack" when advertising to the
public. Remember, to the general public it has connotations of black-hat
activity, computer crime, spam/attacks, and at best, sloppy off-the-cuff
not-carefully-architected coding. Even out of the computer field, a
"hack job" is something to be avoided (and a "hacker" is someone not to
play golf with). Many moons ago, I told my new IBM manager that I could
"hack something together" to solve a problem. He gave me an icy look and
informed me that "We never, ever, 'hack' anything."
