My only thoughts are more complaints about my asus 1000h eeepc so take it
with a pound of salt since it may not be similar to your needs or
experiences. The wireless card after two years no longer lists with lspci
on the current install or a live boot. This seems to happen frequently on
lots of laptops but is still annoying. It seems to have burnt up. The
hotkeys still to this day don't map and the external video output doesn't
work correctly, both the external and the monitor are on at the same time
and run at 1024 x 768 which doesn't work for the eeepc monitor that is 1024
x 600. Also apps / dialog boxes that are expecting 1024 x 768 as a minimum
resolution are fun to get working! The 12 inch models are 1280 x 800 which
is the way I would go if I did it again. Unfortunately Asus doesn't have a
tablet of this size and the brands that do are around $1000. I haven't
tried recently but when I tried 8.04 on a Panasonic toughbook everything
worked but there was no way to calibrate the screen, or at least that I
could find. Hopefully this has changed. Perhaps there is a store that has
the model you want that you could try a live boot with.
