Hello Everyone, All of the pieces have been put into place, and I am very happy to announce that the first New York City LOPSA meeting will be held Tuesday, December 14th at 7pm. Headlining this meeting will be John Allspaw from Etsy.com, presenting "Cooperation, Collaboration, and Awareness": It's not just good enough to develop elegant software, it's mandatory to develop operable software, especially in web architectures. This presentation will talk about the various pain points and solutions found at Flickr.com and Etsy.com surrounding the collaboration and cooperation between development teams who are tasked with delivering working software and operations teams who are tasked with delivering infrastructure and availability. There are some technical, cultural, and process related things you can do to help everyone own the task of both availability and and rapid change, at the same time. We will be meeting at the offices of D. E. Shaw, thanks to member Doug Hughes. The address is: 120 W 45th St 39th Floor New York City, NY The building is the 2nd one off of 6th Ave, and D. E. Shaw is on the marquee. To maintain building procedures (and because we want to be good neighbors), please RSVP to this email with the names of the people who will (or may be) coming. We need to give this list to building security so everyone can be let through. Thanks in advance, and it's going to be great to meet everyone in person. --Matt -- LITTLE GIRL: But which cookie will you eat FIRST? COOKIE MONSTER: Me think you have misconception of cookie-eating process. _______________________________________________ nylug-social mailing list [email protected] http://nylug.org/mailman/listinfo/nylug-social _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Jan 5 - Building a Community Site with Drupal Feb 2 - Zimbra Mar 2 - MHVLUG 8th Anniversary - Show and Tell
