First, off, 36 folks last night at the meeting, which was great! Nice
full house. And a great talk as well. Expect some additional writeup and
photos from our new Historian, Joe.
Secondly, the 5pm opening went better than expected. It naturally turned
into a show and tell kind of format, which was very cool. We got to see
some of the tests and results from Ed's Thing-o-matic (full talk coming
in September), discussed netboot network install, Eric brought in his
Linux PPC machine so people could check it out, and many other cool
little technical conversations. Good stuff. For the most part, I think
keeping that block informal is good, and it makes for a great show and
tell time.
One thing that came up at dinner last night is that Open Office Impress
(the presentation program) has lots of quirks. Some of us that have been
using it for a long time have figured out how to sanely navigate through
them. So for the April 5pm block we'll make sharing OO tricks a theme.
It won't be anything formal, but if people want to bring a question, or
a trick, please do, and we'll work to figure it out together.
Thanks again folks for the great turnout and meeting last night,
-Sean
