Thanks Mike.
I think if I go with an Android, I will go for the data plan. I'm
really tired of telling people to not text me and being disconnected if
I'm not at home or sitting near a WiFi HotSpot. There really are times
I'd like to get to the web or e-mail when I'm out and about.
My greatest fear is that I'll go for an Android phone that simply won't
work for any length of time. A good friend in Florida got an Android on
my recommendation and likes the phone but has to keep it plugged in
everywhere because even with a "High Capacity" battery it dies after
about 4 hours (according to him). If I can continue to work in NYC,
I'll have to at least get a full day out of the battery. I also know
enough to realize that phones differ in the types of screens they have
but I don't know which models have the better screen.
Any suggestions or gripes are needed.
I don't have specific recommendations on Verizon, so I'll leave that to
others. The biggest drain on the battery is the cell data, especially
when it's trying to sync when you don't have much of a signal (like in
the subway tunnels). A big part of battery life is making sure that you
don't have lots of programs looking for updates every 5 minutes (which
is default configured on some).
I've actually got a second battery for my EVO (with an external charger)
that I've used on occasion that I was going to do a lot of use of the
phone (effectively laptop/camera/video replacement for the day).
Flipping out the batteries is quick and easy.
