CC is a niche publication that's one of the few survivors from the Olde Days. The last I knew the details, many years ago, "long time" subscribers formed a surprisingly large part of the readership. That meant there were only 10 to 15 k people like, uh, me in the world. The advertisers, even the big ones, seem happy, although I'm sure they want to expose those ads to new eyeballs.
