First thing I'd consider is that the PATH is different for you at the terminal and for the KDE autostart.
The other is that perhaps conky behaves differently when not connected to a terminal. You can quickly test this by running your command using 'batch' or 'at' to run it under the batch system rather than from the terminal (see `man at`).
