As a follow up from the lightning talk, I've now got a unity lens for
pidgin, available as a ppa as part of the onehundredscopes project.
If you are interested, and running Ubuntu 12.04 or better
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:scopes-packagers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-pidgin
You have to log out and in to unity for it to work (lenses don't pick up
dynamically, sadly), but then you are off and running.
