Concerning Systemd, yes and no. I recently tried it for a while, via passing "init=/bin/systemd" to the booting kernel. Booting this way, I'm told Systemd is compatable with the standard LSB-compliant sysv init scripts. What didn't work as expected was selecting "reboot" within KDE, which instead ends up logging out, not having permission to reboot, and Systemd ends up restarting the display manager. Then at the display manager screen, choosing "reboot" works fine.
