I had Lubuntu LXDE in a celeron M processor with a memory stick the

Lubuntu has Chromium as the default browser because they perceived of
it as faster than Firefox.
The add-ons I suggested improve the performance and memory consumption
of Firefox but it's true that some add-ons can slow down firefox. I have
seen Chromium render sites a little faster then firefox but I have seen
chromium and chrome consume a lot more memory then firefox. Using
Firefox for its lower memory consumption and seeing some javascript
heavy sites render on the screen slighly slower is not a bad trade off.
